Potato casserole

Here’s a simple recipe for potato casserole:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar works great)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the Potatoes: In a large pot, boil the sliced potatoes in salted water until just tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, milk, onion (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.

  4. Combine: Add the drained potatoes to the mixture and gently stir to coat.

  5. Layer in Casserole Dish: Pour half of the potato mixture into a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle half of the cheese on top. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture and cheese.

  6. Add Topping: If using, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top for a crunchy finish.

  7. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  8. Serve: Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
